2020 was a warm and dry vintage, so the Sikes were able to harvest perfectly healthy, ripe grapes from the Bács-Hajagos vineyard that lies on the eastern side of Csobánc. The grapes that had been planted by hand in the compact, deep soil containing clay and full of tiny basalt fragments, in 2014, were cultivated with a low yield and were transported to the cellar in a reliably good quality. It’s important that the primary characteristics of the grapes are preserved and also that beside the place of growth, the round fruitiness, medium body and stoniness are present too. Following tank fermentation, a third of the raw material was put into large barrels for nine months, which adds just as much aroma and retains as much grape flavour as the delicate and elegant wine requires. The outcome is a mature, creamy, long and yet fresh wine that recognizably comes from the Badacsony wine region.
