One of the Balaton-felvidék’s most dynamically developing wineries is Villa Tolnay. After several years’ work, by today they’ve got to the point that with the exception of one to two hectares, they cultivate and harvest the entire southern side of the Csobánc. The selected grapes arrive to the several-level cellar from this almost monopolistically and organically cultivated hillside, where the slow pressing is followed by a night of settling, then controlled fermentation in tanks and oval Stockinger barrels. According to Philipp Oser, the 2020 vintage is more about the hill and less about the fresh fruit, with more layers and length. An entry-level wine with the feel of a big wine.
