From the cooler, stony terroir of Csobánc, this is a layered and balanced white with elegant, well-integrated oak notes and an ideal blend of varieties. It’s a selection from the finest barrels in the cellar. Hand-harvested Chardonnay from Villa Tolnay’s first, 2009 planting on sandy, brown forest soil, beautifully blended with Riesling, Olaszrizling and Zöld Veltelini (Grüner Veltliner) in perfect proportions. After spontaneous fermentation, the wine was aged for 9 months in 300-litre barrels of Burgundian François Frères and Austrian Stockinger. On the nose, white flowers, peach and pear, leading to a pleasantly salty-mineral palate. Its name pays homage to remnants of the Pannonian Sea, discovered 12 metres down, beneath volcanic rock layers, during the construction of the new cellar.
