The 7 Hektár is always about the vineyard. This part of the Barátszőlő vineyard was planted by Mihály Figula Sr in 2011. Today, the roughly 20-year-old vines – Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris (Szürkebarát in Hungarian) and Sárgamuskotály (Muscat Blanc) – grow together in the same proportions as they appear in the wine. The 7 Hektár is a tribute to the paternal legacy: the grapes are not separated, but harvested and fermented together, so that the vineyard’s character remains unified. The wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation in tanks, then continues ageing on fine lees with regular battonage (lees stirring). The nose is more powdered and restrained, not immediately jumping out: it opens with a subtle leesy, porous character and gradually draws you in. On the palate, there is a long, lingering minerality, while the finish is floral and almost ethereal. This finely tuned character now resonates particularly well with the wine’s visual presence and aligns more closely with the label than in previous vintages.
