Out of Gellavilla’s 6.5 hectares, red grapes are grown on altogether one hectare: the 2008 plantings of Merlot, Kékfrankos and Pinot Noir, in the highest situated parcel, on the left-hand side of the winery. After the planting, the red grapes were a completely new thing next to the Olaszrizling, however, it worked out well from the beginning. The 2011 Pinot Noir was the first one made here without filtering, fining and sulphur. The last 10 vintages are capped by the 2018 Kékfrankos, which is so far the best of the winery. From 1,400 vines, altogether 14 hectolitres were made, blended in two used and two new barrels, from an early harvest, fermented in 30% whole bunches, in open vats. Kékfrankos’ floral notes, with elegant and subtle details on the meaty and round palate. A big wine.
Unfined, slightly filtered before bottling.
1,750 bottles made.
