Until 1968, raspberries grew instead of grapes on the separate parcel located on the right-hand side of Gellavilla’s 1799 stone cellar – hence the name of the wine. From 1968, Piros Tramini (Red Traminer) has been grown here, which in the last few vintages has been fermented on the skins, in whole bunches, and crushed by foot. It was blended with a tank-vinified component and Olaszrizling fermented on the skins, which made it a substantial, broad and serious wine. It has a warm character, alongside the classic Tramini notes, with tea and medicinal herb flavours from the skins, and slight sourness on the finish.
