At the Balatonszőlős estate, less than two hectares are devoted to red varieties, including a 0.6-hectare plot where Burgundian Pinot Noir clones were planted in 2008. After skipping a vintage, Gellavilla's lightest red wine was once again made from here. From an organically cultivated, limestone parcel, hand-harvested on September 20, the destemmed grapes were spontaneously fermented in the tank, followed by brief ageing in many-time filled Hungarian barrels. A ripe pomegranate colour, subtle earthy notes, sweetish fruitiness, an airy palate with a hint of bitterness on the finish. Everything we love about Pinot Noir.
