We’ve been following the story of György Lőrincz since the first vintages and over the last few years one success for him has followed the other. The wines are characterized by the confidence of an internationally established estate – they are detailed, memorable and pristinely pure. One of the best wines of our latest tastings comes from a traditional white wine area, from the Boldogságos vineyard in Egerszólát, where only white varieties are grown on the almost 5-hectare vineyard: Olaszrizling, Hárslevelű, Pinot Gris (Szürkebarát), Sauvignon Blanc and Furmint. The most important element of the colourful soil is the characteristic tuff running under the rows, which is echoed in the wines every year. The nose is already cool and refined, with pollen, linden, roasted seeds, the palate has a strong hold, rich acidity, balance, and just enough of everything. The manual harvest is followed by fermentation in a mixture of tanks and barrels, then aging in used barrels for 5 months.
The two György Lőrinczes once again “strove to practice the best”, so this wine also performs well above its category.
The story of György Lőrincz and his family is a two-decade-long success story, during which they went from being a small winery to becoming an icon of the wine region, with international awards, a restaurant, a wine bar and emblematic wines. The Egerszalók winery focuses on local varieties and the terroir.
