The Boldogságos vineyard in Egerszólát is one of the winery's most unique terroirs, giving an unmistakable character to the wines due to the combination of rhyolitic tuff volcanic rock and marine sedimentary, limestone-based subsoil. The climate is continental, with cold winters and hot summers, at an elevation of 194-235 metres above sea level. The fermentation process took place partly in stainless steel tanks and partly in wooden barrels, followed by 10 months of ageing, which imparted elegance and complexity to the wine. White flowers and white-fleshed peaches on the nose, followed by green pear and a subtly salty-mineral finish. The blend includes Hárslevelű, Olaszrizling and Pinot Gris (Szürkebarát in Hungarian), in addition to Furmint and Sauvignon Blanc, together creating a classic, Burgundy-style wine.
The story of György Lőrincz and his family is a two-decade-long success story, during which they went from being a small winery to becoming an icon of the wine region, with international awards, a restaurant, a wine bar and emblematic wines. The Egerszalók winery focuses on local varieties and the terroir.
