Mária, the winery’s top white wine, is made from blending Chardonnay, Furmint and Sauvignon Blanc from the special place of growth of Nagy-Eged Hill. It has a salty-mineral character due to the marine alluvial and limestone soil, explosive fruity flavours owing to the large diurnal temperature range, while altogether, it’s a harmonious wine thanks to the Lőrincz family. It was fermented and aged in barrels for 10 months. A truly elegant, round, full-bodied, complex and balanced wine from Eger, made in the Burgundian style. Ripe fruit, peach and pineapple, notes of subtle oak use, vanilla and limestone minerality on the nose and the palate.
The story of György Lőrincz and his family is a two-decade-long success story, during which they went from being a small winery to becoming an icon of the wine region, with international awards, a restaurant, a wine bar and emblematic wines. The Egerszalók winery focuses on local varieties and the terroir.
