“I’m happy about this vintage, because the wine represents an important message from Eger, as the key varieties of the Carpathian Basin – Hárslevelű, Furmint and Olaszrizling – provide the backbone of the wine, which are complemented by the international Sauvignon Blanc variety.” György Lőrincz Jr.
The grapes come from the Nagy-Eged Hill, Kis-Eged Hill and from the Boldogságos vineyard, and what makes this wine particularly interesting is that the wines from all different vineyards and varieties are vinified separately.
The nose is led by intense peach, pineapple and lime; the palate is mineral and fruity with lively acids and mellow spices of the barrel. It’s a rich and complex, genuine Eger wine, with a long finish.
The story of György Lőrincz and his family is a two-decade-long success story, during which they went from being a small winery to becoming an icon of the wine region, with international awards, a restaurant, a wine bar and emblematic wines. The Egerszalók winery focuses on local varieties and the terroir.
