“Örökké is incredibly important in our lives. It's a good reference point to show what we were capable of from the vintage.” – György Lőrincz Jr. In 2023, the estate's ‘fiery barrel selection’ was made from the best vineyards and the finest raw materials. A backbone of Hárslevelű, with Sauvignon Blanc and Furmint, and a touch of Pinot Gris (Szürkebarát in Hungarian) and Olaszrizling to spice it up. The iconic Nagy-Eged vineyard's grapes are enriched by plots from Kis-Eged and 1-1 batch from Mária, with diverse soil compositions, such as clay-tufa brown forest soil, limestone schist and marine sedimentary limestone enhancing the layers. Hand-harvested, followed by controlled fermentation in barrels and tanks, then rounded out in oak barrels for 5 months. Cool character, lively acidity, pronounced but elegant barrel notes: coconut and vanilla, complex flavours, white-fleshed peach, pomelo and saltiness. A pristinely pure manifestation of Eger terroir.
The story of György Lőrincz and his family is a two-decade-long success story, during which they went from being a small winery to becoming an icon of the wine region, with international awards, a restaurant, a wine bar and emblematic wines. The Egerszalók winery focuses on local varieties and the terroir.
