“Örökké is an incredibly important wine in our lives. It’s a good reference point to see what we were able to achieve with the vintage.” – György Lőrincz Jr. In 2024, the estate’s “fiery barrel selection” was again made from the best parcels and the finest grapes. A backbone of Hárslevelű, complemented by Sauvignon Blanc and Furmint, with Pinot Gris (Szürkebarát in Hungarian) and Olaszrizling adding spice. The grapes from the iconic Nagy-Eged vineyard are enriched by the Kis-Eged crop and leftover wine from Mária, while the diverse soils of these sites – clay-tuff brown forest soil, limestone shale and marine sedimentary limestone – enhance the wine’s layered complexity.
The hand-harvested grapes underwent controlled fermentation in both barrels and tanks, followed by five months of ageing in oak barrels to round out the wine. It shows a cool character with lively acidity, pronounced yet elegant oak notes of coconut and vanilla, and a complex flavour profile featuring white-fleshed peach, pomelo and salinity. A pure expression of Eger terroir.

The story of György Lőrincz and his family is a two-decade-long success story, during which they went from being a small winery to becoming an icon of the wine region, with international awards, a restaurant, a wine bar and emblematic wines. The Egerszalók winery focuses on local varieties and the terroir.
