It comes from 20-25-year-old Kadarka vines grown on the volcanic, granite soil of the Arad-hegyalja Ménes wine region. The wine was spontaneously fermented in tanks, then aged for a year in 50-hectolitre barrels. It’s a deep, spicy, multi-layered, pure red wine, which is made complex by the notes of the barrel, the special soil and the variety that makes Ménes famous. It has a deep red colour, a warm and spicy nose, yet it’s a light Kadarka with a fine, round palate, forest fruit, ripe cherries, cumin and pepper, plus a slightly sweet aftertaste on the long palate.
