Kadarka has a great past in the Ménes wine region – the famous Ménes red aszú wine was traditionally made from this variety and thanks to Géza Balla, the variety is still grown today. The base material of the wine arrives from higher spots, from low-yielding old vines. Following spontaneous fermentation, the wine is aged in small, 225-litre barrels for 12 months. Compared to the average Kadarka, it has a deeper colour, with ripe fruits, mushroom and forest floor spiciness.
