Since the first plantings in Etyek in 2001, the Pinot Noir has been a solid and defining wine of Etyeki Kúria’s range. After the several rounds of selective manual harvesting, the bunches that come from the vines grown on the limestone, loess soil of Nagy Látó-hegy in Alcsútdoboz are sent to the cellar. Tank fermentation is followed by 15 months of ageing in 300 and 228-litre Zemplén, French Taransaud and Seguin Moreau, and Austrian Stockinger oak barrels – 30% of which are new. Aromas of sour cherry, redcurrant, hibiscus, blackcurrant, plum and nutmeg. The main role is also played by red berry fruit on the palate, complemented by smokiness, cardamom and black pepper.
