Through Oszkár, the area has been (re)discovered, where he and his team planted nearly 10 hectares of vineyards around the village, starting in 2015. A region with a long history, alongside the sturgeon that once lived in the River Danube and the mouflon that still inhabit the area today, 300-year-old carved cellars line the outskirts of the village. From the steep rows of vineyards with a unique microclimate and clay-loess mixed with volcanic bedrock, there is a picturesque view of the Danube Bend. The broad assortment, consisting mainly of international varieties, is crafted with Germanic-style precision. Beyond the varietal character, the wines are marked by a deep, vibrant minerality that also permeates the terroir-selected Chardonnay. Aged in oak barrels made from local wood, which further enhances the expression of the place of growth’s character. It shows its best side in a large Burgundy glass: it opens with sweetish tones, with deeply buttery and vanilla notes on the nose, accompanied by minerality and the varietally classic mango. On the palate, it reveals an acidity structure reminiscent of German Riesling, with Granny Smith apple, buttery biscuit, brioche and exceptionally elegant barrel use. Great length and potential, with countless layers – a truly terroir-driven, capital-letter Wine.
