Thanks to Oszkár, the area was (re)discovered and from 2015 onwards he and his team planted nearly 10 hectares of vineyards, concentrated around the village. It is a region with a rich history: alongside the sturgeon that once inhabited the Danube and the mouflon still roaming today, 300-year-old carved cellars line the village’s outskirts. From the steep rows of vines with their unique mesoclimate, clay-loess soils mixed with volcanic bedrock, the view of the Danube Bend is truly picturesque.
The wide range, composed mainly of international grape varieties, follows a German-inspired, precision-focused style. Beyond the varietal character, each wine carries a deep, vibrant minerality, which also permeates this terroir-selected Chardonnay. Aged in locally crafted oak barrels, the wine gains additional roundness, further enhancing the expression of the terroir. It shows its best side in a large Burgundy glass: opening with sweetish tones, the nose reveals deeply buttery and vanilla notes, minerality and varietal-classic hints of mango. On the palate, it features Riesling-like acidity, Granny Smith apple, buttery biscuits, brioche and extremely elegant oak use. A long finish, immense potential, countless layers – a thoroughly terroir-driven, top-tier wine.
