The village of Helemba is surrounded by three rivers: the Danube flows directly in front of it, with a clear view stretching all the way to Esztergom Basilica. Behind it runs the Ipoly, while to the west, the Garam meanders. It was here that Oszkár Világi and his team planted nearly 10 hectares of vineyards in 2015. Thanks to the rivers, this area is almost like a nature reserve, and is still home to mouflon today. In the past, the local waters were famous for sturgeon, which are also featured on the label.
The volcanic hill in this region is called Burda, with andesite bedrock covered in clay-loess and steep slopes – an outstanding place to grow grapes. Most of the 9.5-hectare vineyard is cultivated using organic methods. The selection is diverse, mainly consisting of international grape varieties, and the winemaking follows a precise, German-style reductive approach. The wines have a popular appeal, yet beyond their varietal character, each carries a deeply mineral vibrancy unique to this terroir.
The most successful wine in the Világi selection here is the Zöld Veltelini (Grüner Veltliner). and this is the fourth consecutive vintage we have selected it. Inspired by top Austrian examples, it was once again made 100% reductively in tanks, emphasizing lively acidity, pure fruit character and pronounced minerality. The place of growth and soil conditions give the wine a full-bodied, dense and deeply mineral feel.
