In Gyula Szabó’s cellar, change is a constant – the joy of discovery and the exploration of new place of growth is ongoing. The 2023 vintage is composed of 70% Kékfrankos harvested from, among others, Tihany, Hegyestű, Balatonederics and Dörgicse, and 30% Cabernet Franc from Tihany. After open-vat fermentation, the wine underwent two weeks of maceration with daily punching down, then, without pressing, the free-run juice was aged for one year in 500-, 400-, 300- and 225-litre Austrian oak barrels, before being bottled with minimal filtration. Thanks to the higher proportion of Kékfrankos, the lower alcohol and the lively acidity, the result is a relaxed, lighter wine, which is full of fresh red berries, raspberry and rosehip brightness.
