Zánka Rajnai Rizling 2019

Gyula Szabó got so into making slowly, spontaneously, barrel-fermented village wines this vintage that even a rosé made it into the white range. The Zánka, the Szabós’ sole fully tank-made village wine, made from Riesling, has been bottled in this format for the last time. Unfortunately, the old vines that grow on the Horog vineyard’s limestone and volcanic mixed soil will be cut out by the owner of the plot this year, while we’re keeping positive about Gyula finding another grape grower in this exciting place of growth. It’s a crispy wine with apricot and grape flower, in a rich, layered form.
