In Dávid Bökő's vineyards, proximity to shorelines is the common denominator. Working beside Lake Balaton's vast waters requires true patience — on the sun-drenched slopes, they often measure the perfect harvest window in terms of hours rather than days. The foundation of their 10-hectare family estate has always been those volcanic Tihany terroirs, where even today, more than half of their vines flourish. His rosé, 'Tihany', launched in 2018 as a genuine trailblazer.
The local varieties, the proximity to water, Tihany’s black grape heritage, and the volcanic soils all converged when the concept for this 'Provençal-style' rosé was created. Since then, the core principles have remained unchanged — organic cultivation, spontaneous fermentation, ageing on fine lees — with only the vintages’ styles evolving. The newly released 2024 is predominantly Zweigelt, yet its Kékfrankos character shines just as vividly. Pristinely pure with a deeper hue than usual, it reveals a full palate, with wild strawberry and ripe flavours.
