The stable cornerstone of our Weninger selection for many years, blended from the slate-soil vineyards overlooking Lake Fertő on the Hungarian side. It’s the most important local variety, with deep rooted traditions. “Nobody took Kékfrankos seriously in Hungary. My father was the first one to do so in 1997,” says Franz.
Biodynamic cultivation, exclusively hand harvested, spontaneously fermentated on the skins for two weeks, then ageing in large barrels for 15 months. Deeply fruity with subtle forest floor, leather and many layers. After a chance to breathe, the more direct Kékfrankos notes, cherry, darker fruits and cool acidity also appear. The unmistakable Weninger style.
Decanting it is recommended before tasting. Bottled unfiltered in December 2021.
