Owing to the new Kadarka clones, the 10-year-old vines of the Porkoláb Valley have brought about a huge quality change at the Szekszárd estate. It is also strengthened by the organic transition that has been going on since 2020, thanks to which the shoots are thinner, the bunches are smaller, and the skin of the berries is tastier and thicker in the only 2-hectare plot.
In 2020, after the mid-September hand harvest and thorough sorting, the highly yield-controlled crop was fermented spontaneously in small vats, one-third in whole bunches, and then aged in 400-litre amphorae for 8 months. It’s a full, spicy wine with harmonious acidity, and a true Kadarka character.
