At the Heimanns, Syrah always comes from the meeting of two vineyards. The Iván-völgy provides the backbone of the wine; due to its warm, exposed location, the grapes ripen reliably each year and give dense, deep raw material. The Bati-kereszt site, with its lighter, airier structure, brings elegance and lightness.
“We love to see these two sides together in the wine, because that’s how Syrah truly shows what it means to us in Szekszárd.”
The variety has a natural sweetness and softness, but the Heimann family deliberately seeks the spicier expression. Notes of pepper, black olive and tapenade are the markers that let you recognise, even blind, that you’re on the right track. This wine leans closer to what we love in Syrah from the South of France: pure spice, a firmer structure and more restrained fruit.
After fermentation, the wine is aged in second- and third-fill 225- and 500-litre barrels. The ageing is primarily about fine-tuning the texture, not the barrel influence. The focus remains on Syrah’s spiciness and dense structure throughout.
Available in a limited number of bottles while supplies last.
