We know Jani Márkvárt Jr well, we've visited him many times, seen him expanding his cellar that’s dug into the loess of Szekszárd by using a pickaxe, and we've whizzed past him several times in the gorges of Szekszárd. And one of these vineyard tours has become at least as legendary as János' estate wine, the Ezerötös, known for its great drinkability.

It’s a blend of Syrah, Kékfrankos, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and a little Kadarka. The base was harvested from the Faluhely and Baranya Valley vineyards from mid-September to the end of October, in several sweeps. This was the estate's first organic vintage, and also the best of the last 10 years. The fruit, hand-picked from the plots planted in the 1990s, was fermented in tanks after destemming, and following pressing, the wine was aged for a year in the traditional large barrels used in the cellar. Bottled in March 2023.
