“With our 2018 Bikavér, we feel that the thoughts and feelings that we’d formulated for ourselves 8-10 years ago have become real. Although we have taken a lot of small steps during the years, this vintage will evidently mark a turning point to which we’ll look back after a few years. During the last few years, we consciously planted the Kékfrankos and Kadarka varieties that are indispensable for making Bikavér (Bull’s blood) to the Iván-völgy, the Porkoláb-völgy and the Görögszó vineyards, which are regarded as the wine region’s best. Through the vineyard-selected varietal wines we’ve managed to get to know the qualities of the terroir, so that the blend could start with the best possible base wines. The 2018 vintage was the first in which we could see what it’s like to build up Szekszárd Bikavér from the wines that come from the plots regarded as the best. Our Szekszárd bikavér is traditional, unique and based on local grape varieties.” Csaba Sebestyén
