One of the smallest vineyards of the Szekszárd wine region is the 21-hectare Gurovica, the name of which refers to its Serbian origins and owner. It’s a protected area that’s closed on three sides and open to the south, with thin, red clay soil that adds a unique saltiness to the wines from here. Out of the 21 hectares, nearly eight belong to the Takler family – their elegant, spicy and medium-bodied Kékfrankos that has been made since 2017 comes from here. In 2020, a total of 4,100 bottles were produced from a total of 3,800 vines. The hand-harvested grapes were fermented destemmed after sorting, then aged for 13 months in used Hungarian and French barrels.
