New labels adorn the wine of the Takler family. And what the new label is about? Their ancestor, who had been ‘planted’ in Hungary by Maria Theresa, was born in 1725. According to local sources, the ancestors of the family had been working with grapes and wine since the 1760s, but the first certain date was 1767 – which is depicted on the label – when Josephus Takler got married and started a family in Szekszárd. This history is expressed by the coat of arms, with three stars and three stripes which of course refers to both Ferenc senior and junior, and András.
The grapes are harvested from old vines cultivated with strict yield-control, aged in 500-litre Hungarian and French barrels for 12 months. It has a spicy, real Kékfrankos character with red berries.
