The cool and wet weather in 2017 at the end of September put an end to over ripening, but luckily for the wine region, October was warm and dry again. This made it possible so that alongside the earlier harvest dates, they could also vinify perfectly ripened grapes. The larger part of the grapes for this premium Syrah were harvested from one of the Takler family’s most important vineyards, from Szenta-hegy, which was blended with a bit of Syrah from the Várdomb. The wine was aged in first-fill, 500-litre barrels for 16 months. A lively, dense wine with Syrah’s peppery spiciness, grapefruit and blood orange notes on the nose and palate. Owing to the perfectly ripened grapes and the careful winemaking that characterises the winery, the wine became substantial, silky with ripe tannins and has long ageing potential.
