One of the brightest wines of the Vida estate, and one of the best buys in our Kékfrankos selection, is the new vintage of Hidaspetre. It exudes blue floral notes and cherry, and is medium-bodied, juicy and gently tart. It has everything. The estate’s central vineyard (Hidaspetre) meets its flagship variety here. If someone is looking for the softness, extra fruitiness and juicy flavours characteristic of Vida wines, Hidaspetre is where they’ll most easily find them.
The estate’s largest contiguous vineyard lies in Hidaspetre, in the northernmost valley of Szekszárd. It consists of two opposing parcels – one contributing a cooler character, the other a warmer one – both planted with a mix of Hungarian and Austrian clones.
At the winery, after cold maceration, the grapes are fermented in whole bunches in 300-500 litre Hungarian oak barrels. “We love the peppery, spicy notes typical of Kékfrankos, so we harvest this variety a few days before full ripeness,” says Péter Vida Jr.

"We’ve always been searching for what would bring us closer to elegant, generous wines," says Zsuzsi Vida, who took over the management of the estate's cellar starting with the 2020 vintage.
