Zoltán Demeter celebrates his 60th birthday this year, while his estate turns 30. He has marked the occasion with a wine whose message, microscopic quantity and boundless power make it truly commemorative.

Both the Aszú berries and the base wine for maceration were harvested in the Boda vineyard, where the vines are now over 100 years old, and which his parents bought in the year Zoltán was born. This family vineyard, one third of a hectare of Furmint, is where everything began.

“The 100-year-old vines of Boda may never before have produced enough Aszú berries to make a perceptible number of bottles of Aszú. In 2021, this became possible, in a quantity of nearly 80 litres. A little ‘help’ came from the wasps, as botrytis cannot penetrate the thick skins of these old grapes without external intervention. Its development can be understood on a century-long scale. My mother’s farewell gift.” — Zoltán Demeter

Made as the result of a rare and special alignment. Boda Magnum Aszú is a collector’s piece, available in only a few bottles, exclusively at the estate and at Bortársaság.

Pale gold in colour, with fresh peach and ripe pear. Pinpoint-precise, arrow-straight, refreshing and deeply penetrating. Broad, creamy, almost embracing in feel. Zoltán’s mother, guardian of the Boda Furmint, passed away just weeks before harvest. This Aszú is her farewell gift.

Bottled on 27 August 2025.
53 bottles produced.
Alcohol: 10%.
Natural residual sugar: 205 g/l.

Demeter Zoltán

„Maybe this special vintage was necessary so that after 13 years myself and Bortársaság could get to know each other again. The vintage made it obvious that something is happening in the world that both nature and winemaker should adapt to. The starlings knew what their task was: they arrived a month early, and we started the harvest at the beginning of September, instead of the usual end of October. One can only make good wine in big freedom, and a credible estate wine is only made if people stand behind it and the place of growth verifies them. This is more and more important in my thinking.”
