Owing to the special character of the Tokaj terroir, an excellent Szamorodni was born from the hands of László Szilágyi, even from the warm 2018 vintage. Selecting the best from the concentrated, botrytized bunches, fewer than 6,000 bottles of sweet wine was produced from beautiful raw material. The largest part is Furmint, the smaller is Hárslevelű, plus a touch of Sárgamuskotály, destemmed and kept on the skins for a night, then after pressing and settling, it was put into barrels for 6 months. Tropical fruits on the nose with honey and raisins. The palate is complex with an oily structure, and harmonious even with the 173 grams/ litre of residual sugar.
László szilágyi, who dreamt up the gizella winery, has been making wine for eight years in tokaj, in the cellar of his grandparents. Following our trip to tokaj, his single-vineyard hárslevelű made it into our selection from the barát vineyard. We enjoyed being there and the wines were very nice too. Here's what we talked about:
