This iconic white wine from Tempos Vega Sicilia’s Hungarian estate reflects over two decades of refinement in viticulture and winemaking techniques. The result is an increasingly sophisticated style and consistent quality. The grapes, free of botrytis, were handpicked in early autumn from rhyolite-rich vineyards, such as Mandulás, Budaházi, Kútpadka and Gyapáros. After multiple selection rounds, the grapes were gently whole-bunch pressed. Fermentation took place in new Miklóssy cooperage barrels and stainless steel tanks, followed by 6 months of barrel ageing. To ensure a rounder profile even in its youth, partial malolactic fermentation and weekly battonage were carried out.
Fresh and fruity aromas alongside a full-bodied, mineral-driven character with vibrant acidity, in which the place of growth is prominently articulated. Long ageing potential.
„2011 was the opportunity to make the ideal dry white wine. The grapes were so healthy that they were smiling at you. This is the 13th vintage of our dry estate wine, yet we learn something new from nature every year. The most important thing we’ve experienced in the past ten years was balance. The precise timing of the harvest, but even more giving full concentration during the time of fermentation. For me fermentation is the most important time, the most significant part of a wine’s life and one that I supervise throughout. That’s the crucial point: when the grape becomes a wine.”
