The Barakonyi vineyard and Saci Bárdos’ name have now completely merged, with many vintages of memories and a defined style in mind. Clearly, this is the vineyard that defines the estate. In 2009, Furmint vines were planted in the highest, rocky and machine-inaccessible part of the vineyard. "I was curious to see if the different cultivation methods would manifest in the wine, if it would bring a new quality?" says Saci.
From pruning to the harvest, Saci and her colleague do everything by hand. This is where the vines bloom and ripen the earliest, so the harvest starts here. After gentle pressing, the must is spontaneously fermented in barrels, followed by 6 months of ageing in 1-5-year-old, 220-litre Zemplén oak barrels. The character is clearly distinct from the usual: more intense acidity, a tighter structure and a longer aftertaste. A small batch, made only from the best Tokaj vintages.
