The 2019 vintage in Tokaj brought the kind of balance that occurs only rarely, with ripe fruit, pure botrytis and taut acidity. It’s no coincidence that Sarolta Bárdos only turns to Szamorodni in vintages like this. The bunches underwent strict selection in multiple sweeps of the vineyard. The result is a harmonious, precisely structured sweet wine in which the sugar does not conceal, but rather adds layers. Honey, apricot jam and dried fruits unfold on the nose, delicately interwoven with botrytised and subtly spicy notes. The palate is dense and concentrated, yet kept in motion by the acidity: not heavy, but rather deep and long-lasting. The finish is pure, elegant and really lengthy.
