Attila Gere made the first Járdovány in 2009, and since then, they’ve been studying the character of this native Hungarian grape variety for several vintages. The wine made from it mostly resembles Kadarka, Pinot Noir, Kékfrankos with their lighter, prominent acid character. The cooler vintages suit it better, when the jolly fruitiness and spiciness dominate the wine, while in the warmer years, the fuller bodied, more alcoholic, more tannic notes that are typical of Villány appear in it. The crop of 15-year-old vines from the Csillagvölgy and the Ördögárok vineyards aged for 10 months in small, second-fill barrels. A deep, purplish colour, very intense black berry fruit nose with pepper and coffee, then a flavoursome, long, acid-driven palate, with ripe tannins.
