Out of the two C7s, the blue-capped one – i.e. the version selected from the Siklós areas – is always the more attractive. The calcium-rich loess soil gives it higher acidity and a livelier, fruit-emphasis character compared to the more serious, deeper-tasting Villány one. Layered aromas on the nose with blueberries, raspberries and blackberries, along with flowers and delicious green herbs. The palate is infinitely smooth, well-structured and fresh, with a long finish. Great New World wines come to mind. 15 months of ageing in first- and second-fill French barrels.
