The Siklós Cuvée 7 always approaches wine from the perspective of details. The base of the wine comes from the Merlot of the Makár vineyard, complemented by the fruit from Zuhánya, which adds freshness and energy. The loess and calcium-rich soil of Makár, along with its cooler mesoclimate, result in slower ripening, giving the fruit cooler tones and a tauter structure. Together, the two vineyard sites provide the wine’s balance: Makár contributes depth, while Zuhánya brings movement and openness. The 2021 vintage yielded a harmonious, silky and precise wine.

Blueberry, plum and black cherry appear, accompanied by fine spice, cocoa and graphite on the nose. The palate is serene, broad and layered. The tannins are subtle, the acidity lively but not sharp. The oak is barely perceptible, providing structure rather than flavour.

The balance of the structure is firm yet effortless. With this wine, it’s the perfect opportunity to use a beautiful decanter and also bring out the wide-bowled red wine glasses. High calibre calls for the best.
The 2021 vintage in Siklós demanded patience. The slowly arriving spring, the summer warmth and the long ripening together shaped the rhythm of the wine. The harvest took place in dry, cool weather, and the berries were healthy and concentrated. The Cuvée 7 Siklós spent 15 months in French oak barrels, 30% of which were new, and after two years of bottle ageing it reached the shelves. Since 2006, it has been a key benchmark, a milestone in quality and a point of reference.
