The Cuvée 7 from Villány always approaches from the perspective of power. The base of the wine is the Cabernet Sauvignon from the Ördögárok vineyard, to which the rich, warm fruit of the Kopár and Konkoly vineyards adds further layers. The character of the three vineyards together shapes the depth of the wine: the dense structure of Ördögárok, the ripe fruitiness of Kopár and the cooler, spicier tone of Konkoly. From these, the 2021 vintage produced a wine that’s precise and taut, yet warm in character.

The vivid aromas of blackcurrant and fire-roasted red pepper are complemented by notes of graphite, cedar and liquorice from the barrel ageing. On the palate, there’s pleasant tension and vibrancy, with flavours of oozing blackcurrant, black pepper, cigar and sandalwood. The youthful tannins deserve meat, whether grilled, barbecued or ribeye steak. It will be a great experience.

The 2021 vintage in Villány demanded discipline. The cold spring and hot summer produced slowly-ripened, really dense berries, which ultimately resulted in an exceptionally pure, long-lived wine. The Cuvée 7 Villány was aged for 15 months in French barrels, 30% of which were new oak, and after two years of bottle ageing, it finally reached the shelves.

This wine is not only the result of the proportions of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, but also of a mindset: discipline, time and attentiveness. The Villány C7 is the winery’s strongest, most concentrated expression – the one you’re glad to return to, because every year it is built from the same energy. Since 2006, it has been a key benchmark, a milestone in quality and a point of reference.
