The iconic wine of Piemonte is Barolo, a masculine-structured wine with floral and leathery notes, made purely from Nebbiolo grapes. The vines grow in limestone-clay soils and surround the villages of Monforte, Castiglione Falletto and Serralunga. The wine undergoes 18 months of ageing in French and Slavonian oak barrels of varying sizes. One of the Prunotto estate's oldest and most iconic bottlings, with its first vintage made in 1905. It displays a deep garnet-red colour with ruby tints. The nose is remarkably complex, with red berries and floral notes accompanied by spicy tones, forest floor and plum. The palate is rich and intense, with velvety tannins and a long finish. Outstanding ageing potential.
The Piemonte winery was launched in 1904 and is run by the Antinori family today. They have 65 hectares next to the town of Alba in the historic vineyards of the famous Langhe region. Scientific accuracy, constant development, wine and grappa, local varieties in focus: Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto.
