One of the most popular Bolgheris in the world, experiencing perpetual success since its first vintage in 2002. It was named after the Macchia del Bruciato forest near the estate, where the Cinta Senesi pigs live. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah, supplemented by a few percent of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Rich aromas of cherry, vanilla, coffee and blackberry appear on the nose. The round palate has smooth tannins, refreshing acidity, prunes, blackcurrants and dark chocolate on the finish. It was fermented in tanks and barrels, then aged for a year in barrique barrels and bottles.
The family’s wine history spans 26 generation since 1385, with novelties that defined the wine world, a network of estates on 1,000 hectares in Tuscany and Umbria, wine, brandy, grappa and olive oil. Books could be filled with the family’s history, and today they are one of Italy’s largest wine enterprises.
