Located about 100 kilometres southwest of Florence, Maremma is home to one of Antinori’s most popular estates, Guado al Tasso. The Bolgheri amphitheatre is a plain surrounded by gentle hills, facing the Tyrrhenian Sea. The shape of the area creates a unique mesoclimate, with favourable temperature variations. The 320-hectare estate is known for its soil called scheletro, which ranges in composition from clayey sand to clay loam, with rocky deposits.
Cabernet Sauvignon (65%) and Merlot (20%), with the remainder made up of Syrah, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Fermented in both tank and barrel, followed by eight months of ageing in French barriques and a further four months of bottle ageing.
An intense and complex aromatic profile: currant, blackberry, liquorice and elegant spices, with hints of anise, tobacco and roasted coffee. Silky tannins, remarkable complexity and excellent ageing potential.

The family’s wine history spans 26 generation since 1385, with novelties that defined the wine world, a network of estates on 1,000 hectares in Tuscany and Umbria, wine, brandy, grappa and olive oil. Books could be filled with the family’s history, and today they are one of Italy’s largest wine enterprises.
