The Pèppoli estate is located about five kilometres northeast of Tenuta Tignanello, covering a total of 100 hectares, of which 50 are planted with vines. Only one wine is produced at the winery: Pèppoli Chianti Classico DOCG. The estate also has a long tradition of producing extra virgin olive oil and red wine vinegar. It includes 27 hectares of olive groves with nearly 5,500 trees, many of them several hundred years old.

Since 1985, the estate has been owned by the Antinori family. The purchase of the winery marked the celebration of their 600th anniversary. Despite the unusual east-northeast exposure of the vineyards, the mesoclimate is ideal. The surrounding small valley keeps the area warm and sheltered, while its gravelly soil is rich in minerals, giving the grapes grown here a vibrant, fruit-driven character. The blend consists of 90% Sangiovese, with the remaining 10% made up of 5% Merlot and 5% Syrah. Fermentation is carried out in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperatures. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for 9 months in large oak barrels.

Ruby red in colour, with a garnet rim. The nose is intense, opening with sour cherry, enriched by notes of violet and blackberry, with subtle smoky nuances from oak ageing. On the palate, balanced tannins, moderate acidity, subtle fruit notes and a medium to long finish.

Antinori

The family’s wine history spans 26 generation since 1385, with novelties that defined the wine world, a network of estates on 1,000 hectares in Tuscany and Umbria, wine, brandy, grappa and olive oil. Books could be filled with the family’s history, and today they are one of Italy’s largest wine enterprises.
