The legendary wine from the 20-hectare Solaia vineyard, blended mainly from the Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc varieties. In this balanced vintage, the sorting was stricter than usual, followed by gentle vinification. The varieties and the crop of different parcels were fermented separately, then aged for 18 months in new French barrels, and blended a few months before bottling. Cherry, sour cherry, blackcurrant, blackberry, vanilla, black pepper and pipe tobacco appear on the concentrated nose. The palate is full and thick, fresh and elegant, with silky tannins and a long finish accompanied by spices and fruits. Ten-year ageing potential.
James Suckling: 98 points, Decanter: 97 points
