One of the world’s most famous Super Tuscan wines, a true milestone from the Antinori family. It holds numerous records, making it one of the most prestigious red wines in Tuscany, and it comes from the historic Chianti Classico wine region. It was the first wine there to be aged in barrique barrels, the first to be part made from international grape varieties (mainly Cabernet Sauvignon), and among the first to exclude white grapes.
The 2021 vintage is balanced and bountiful. The ageing process was smooth, resulting in exceptionally high quality. The blending ratio follows a well-established recipe: a Sangiovese backbone with smaller percentages of the two Cabernet varieties. It originates from the eponymous 57-hectare limestone vineyard. Aged for 15 months in French and Hungarian barrels.
The family’s wine history spans 26 generation since 1385, with novelties that defined the wine world, a network of estates on 1,000 hectares in Tuscany and Umbria, wine, brandy, grappa and olive oil. Books could be filled with the family’s history, and today they are one of Italy’s largest wine enterprises.
