The Antinori family purchased the Peppoli estate in 1985 to celebrate the 600th (yes, six hundredth!) anniversary of the family’s winemaking tradition. Within the family's wider wine assortment, Peppoli is an example of fresh and fruity Chianti Classico. The area is located only 5 km from the world-famous Tignanello estate, where the vineyards are lined with olive trees. The wine was fermented in tanks, with gentle maceration, so that it has remained aromatic and easy to drink. It was aged in large Slavonian oak barrels, with a small part in new barrels and also in tanks. It’s a fruity Tuscan red wine with a fine texture and flavours. 85% Sangiovese, the rest is made up by the Cabernets.
The family’s wine history spans 26 generation since 1385, with novelties that defined the wine world, a network of estates on 1,000 hectares in Tuscany and Umbria, wine, brandy, grappa and olive oil. Books could be filled with the family’s history, and today they are one of Italy’s largest wine enterprises.
