The 57-hectare vineyard has been owned by the Antinori family since 1900, and the first vintage from here was born in 1971. The largest part of the blend is Sangiovese, complemented by 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. The 2018 vintage gave a really big, pure tasting and silky wine. Owing to the ageing innovations of the Antinori winery, such as the lower toasting levels of the barrels, the longer ageing in raw wood and the decreasing use of new oak barrels, Tignanello has become even more fruity and elegant. Lively red and blue berry fruit, redcurrants, blackberries, roses, coffee, spices, cedar, new leather and liquorice – these are just a few of the many notes that make up this silky, perfectly ripe, deliciously tannic and lingering Tuscan icon.
