It’s not always the case with Chianti, but Brancaia's 2020 Riserva is a silky, elegant wine. As a reflection of the warm vintage, it is rich in fruits – strawberries, black cherries, blackberries – with graphite, green herb and balsamic vinegar aromas as a twist. Thanks to the ripe and healthy ingredients and the oak ageing, there’s no trace of a rough surface, cutting edge or raspy tannins. The medium-plus palate is lively and juicy, with sweet notes of ripe fruits. On the lingering finish, the fruits of the nose meet the fine tannins. This is a very lovable, elegant Chianti with serious ageing potential.
