The winery’s emblematic wine was first made in 1988. At the time, even the Super Tuscan concept and the label based solely on colour seemed like a bold decision. In the originally Sangiovese-based blend, Merlot has become the dominant variety, by now with the Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon sharing the remaining 20%. It’s an intense, polished, well-balanced, aristocratic wine. The seductive aroma is compiled of blueberry, blackberry and black cherry with notes of blue flowers and the discreet nutmeg and orange oil aromas of the excellent quality barrel. The palate is harmonious, layered, free of any heaviness or roughness. It’s a great wine worthy of ageing, suitable for a collection.
